I have a feeling that the question posed in the title of this entry is going to make a few people think, and I hope it does. It’s been on my mind for the last 24 hours because I’ve been trying my best to diligently seek the Lord concerning the direction He is leading my husband and I. So yesterday, as I was praying, and reading through Proverbs 8, which is about wisdom – I had this question come to my mind.
The answer to this question for me is “yes”. Since scripture tells me that God will never leave me or forsake me, I am always in His presence. However, consciously spending time with the Lord is a choice and not something that I do in many ways, as easily as spending time consuming media – either secular or Christian.
A few hours ago I was on a prayer phone call with some people from Faith 2 Action and one of the things mentioned was how if we were all on a conference call with the President of the United States, then that would be a “wow” type of thing. In fact, all of the conference call lines would have been filled – for sure. However, because it was only the living God, Creator of the Universe, there weren’t as many.
Which is really sad when you think about it. I know you’ve probably heard this before, but being in ministry is no replacement for being in close intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, it is often harder to be close to Christ while you are in ministry because ministry takes up so much time.
I know…because ACM takes up a lot of my time. But my priorities are shifting. Here are few plans I have in the works…
First, praying is not enough anymore and neither is simply studying the bible and attending church. We need to get out of our comfort zones and step out in our communities and make a difference. I will be working very hard on the Yes on Prop 8 campaign here in California and do my part to make sure that I will put my faith into action by supporting the biblical directive to keep marriage the way the Lord created it – as a man and a woman.
Second, coming alongside others to help in the mission that God has called them to. I have recently been put on a Board of Directors for an organization that helps with victims of human and sex trafficking. We are working on raising funds to help bring hope and healing to these women and children who have been so violently and wickedly violated.
Third, it is my personal mission to hand out bibles to any and everyone I can. As a Chaplain for the women’s section of The Gideon’s International, I have been blessed with access to many businesses and places that I normally wouldn’t be able to go and because of that people are going to be receiving the living and Holy Word of God. And I cannot wait to get started on that!
I will also oversee the other things I’ve been called to do, and produce informative media with the clients I work with here online at ACM. From sending out my newsletter with information to my church so they know how to battle the homosexual agenda and liberal media lies, to encouraging you to get back into the Word of God and seek the Truth out for yourself.
It’s okay to spend time with media or working in the media, but as a Christian, just make sure that you let the Lord influence your life more. I realized that my time online is not as productive for the kingdom of God as the things i can do offline, like handing out bibles, knocking on doors telling the truth about Prop 8 and making sure the least of these are being heard and helped.
