God’s timing is always perfect, and in light of the tragedy with Greg Laurie’s son, I wanted to share with you a podcast that I recorded the day before this tragedy.

I had a wonderful discussion with Jeremy Lelek who is the President of the Association of Biblical Counselors They have a great website and I HIGHLY encourage you to visit and consider joining ABC - I did the day I spoke to Jeremy.

In my discussion with Jeremy we talked about the differences between real biblical counseling and therapy. We also talked about how the church really has been influenced way more by secular psychology than by biblical theology.

Our conversation may be controversial on a few subjects, but I think it’s timely and a wake up call to the church and those who are entrusted with the heart of another.

A private memorial service will be held on Friday, August 1, at 11 a.m., Pacific Time. This morning, as you may imagine, Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside California is remembering Christopher, the son of Pastor Greg Laurie, after the tragic and sudden death this past Thursday.

The following audio is taken from the 9:45 AM service today. During the first service, Pastor Greg came before his congregation with tears in his eyes, and faith in his speech.

During the second service Pastor Greg spoke more at length and also his son Jonathan spoke for a few moments. Greg then asked people to come to Jesus and many stood and received Christ.

I heard about this tragic story that took place on a freeway that I drive on all the time. This is a horrible tragedy for Greg Laurie and his family. Please pray for the whole family, especially Christopher’s wife and children.

Statement on the Passing of Christopher Laurie, Son of Pastor Greg Laurie
July 24, 2008

Christopher Laurie, son of Pastor Greg Laurie and Cathe Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., died Thursday morning in a car accident. A resident of Huntington Beach, Laurie, 33, served as the art director at Harvest Christian Fellowship for the past three years.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his wife, Brittany, and daughter, Stella, as well as his brother Jonathan. Christopher and his wife are expecting another daughter in November.

Memorial plans for Christopher are pending. More information will be posted at harvest.org as details become available.
