Liberty Counsel Defends California’s Right to Vote on Marriage in Upcoming Election

Today Liberty Counsel is filing a motion to intervene to defend against a lawsuit that is endangering California’s right to choose marriage as a union of one man and one woman.

As you probably know, since 2004 Liberty Counsel has been involved in the legal cases to preserve traditional marriage in California. We have also been reporting about the successful effort to put the California Marriage Protection Act on the ballot in November. The Amendment was certified for the ballot on June 2, 2008 by the Secretary of State. If passed, the Amendment would nullify the 4-3 ruling of the California Supreme Court issued on May 15.

But a few days ago, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, Lambda Legal, the ACLU and Equality California filed suit against California Secretary of State Debra Bowen, who certified the Amendment. Those groups are trying to stop California citizens from voting on the Amendment. They know the polls show that Californians overwhelmingly favor keeping marriage as a union of one man and one woman.

We cannot sit back and idly watch the voters’ rights be stripped away. That is why Liberty Counsel is filing a motion to intervene to defend against the lawsuit. Liberty Counsel represents the Campaign for California Families, Randy Thomasson, and Larry Bowler.

The advocates of same-sex marriage want to trample the will of the people and force same-sex marriage on the citizens of California and upon entire Nation.

I do not personally know one person who would advocate baby rape, or child rape, but it happens.

And the truth is, babies and children are being raped by SOMEONE and there have been numerous articles about this just this year. I have spoken on this subject professionally, as well as here online, and the truth is that children are being violently violated by evil men. The good news is that some of these evil men are finally being caught.

Bottom line - don’t do porn. Do not look at porn. Do not produce porn. Do not trade porn. Don’t hang out with anyone involved in porn. People get hurt, babies get raped and children get raped. Porn is evil and destroys. Nothing good comes from it.

Earlier this week Jeremy Hooper over at his gay blog Good As You, was whooping and hollering about the VICTORY the gays had in not passing an “anti-gay” marriage amendment.

Well, he spoke too soon, and even admits that he gloated too soon (YES he did) because on Friday (that would’ve been yesterday) Arizona had enough votes to put the proposed marriage amendment on the ballot. Here’s the story. And a great quote from the article:

After the vote, conservative activists rejoiced that voters would get a chance to vote on the issue this fall. A similar measure, which also banned governments from offering benefits to employees’ domestic partners, gay or straight, failed at the polls in 2006.

“This is a good day for the people of Arizona,” said Cathi Herrod, president of the Center for Arizona Policy. “The people of Arizona will be able to decide the definition of marriage rather than the courts or the politicians.”

But wait, there’s also more. Why did Jeremy Hooper write California when he was clearly talking about Arizona? I left a comment pointing out the error…because I could. Here’s Hooper’s mistake…

That’s because the cruel and mean-spirited anti-gay constitutional ban that the California Senate turned away on Wednesday? The one whose failure we oh-so-happily celebrated? Yea, well, that same bunch of legislators reconsidered and decided to pass the measure on Friday evening:

And just because Hooper has a really BIG ego, he’s begging his readers to go and vote for him at this site that has nominated him for their award. I went over and voted for someone else, just because I could. And I’m asking you to do the same, it doesn’t matter who it is, just don’t vote for Jeremy

If there is one thing in the church that angers me more than anything it is those “Pastors” who commit sexual crimes. The “pastors” that commit sexual crimes against children and those who allow their perverted sexual appetites to defame the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is not a shock to anyone who knows anything about American church culture these days concerning the high use of pornography within the church and her leaders. Frankly, it makes me want to puke. And while I understand that sometimes sexual sin like becoming addicted to pornography is something that a person “falls into” - there is absolutely no excuse and never will be an excuse or reason good enough for me, for a pastor of any type to molest children. Those pastors should be severely punished by either spending the rest of their lives in prison or by getting the death penalty.

Now, with that said, Ingrid Schlueter has written a good post on this subject here. She wisely begins her post by citing why pastors in foreign lands where there is persecution are arrested and then cites numerous articles about why the American pastors are arrested - it’s not Christian persecution - it’s child sexual abuse and more.
