Using Vado Take One, Video One - Squeekheart

Last week I purchased this little Vado video camera for $100 and I promised that I would share with you (technically my buds on Twitter) my impressions and whether or not I recommend it.

This is my first video, and it was a piece of cake to shoot. Even easier was loading it on to my lap top and then uploading the video to Photo Bucket. I chose Photo Bucket because I didn’t want to put this on You Tube, but you can actually load video where ever you’d like.

The video quality is pretty good, and on this little recorder you can make it excellent quality or good. This is on excellent mode…I think :) I might have to get back to you on that.

The sound isn’t the best primarily because I was speaking and the mic is on the other side which was point towards the cat. So assuming your subject is talking, the sound may be better.

For $100 I can see using this camera for fun blogging activities and also carrying with me where ever I go. If you have an extra 100.00 - go for it!

Okay and here’s the Squeekheart Remix. Nothing special just a few graphics and some music which was available in Photo Bucket.

Americans for Truth Honors Our Soldiers on Memorial Day

Honoring Our Fallen Soldiers on Memorial Day

army_spc_jeffrey_nichols.JPGFor all its flaws, America is still the most noble super-power on the planet — using its power, for the most part, not for empire or greed, as the Left asserts, but to defend freedom. Today we honor our recent fallen, including Army Spc. Jeffrey Nichols, of Granite Shoals, Texas, who was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, May 1 when his vehicle was hit by a makeshift roadside bomb.

The Western Left is wrong and cruel to assert that Nichols and thousands like him died in vain — even as they agitate to effect an abrupt pullout of American power from Iraq which, like it did in Vietnam, could lead to mass slaughter and despotism. Take some moments to view the stories of our recent fallen in Iraq and Afghanistan, and say a prayer for their families. Americans and the people of Iraq, Afghanistan and countless foreign lands across the globe owe our fallen fighting men and women a debt of gratitude for paying the ultimate price in defense of the liberties that we take for granted every day. — Peter LaBarbera

Fort Polk soldier killed in Baghdad

The Associated Press, May 2, 2008

FORT POLK — A Fort Polk soldier was killed in Baghdad yesterday when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.

Army Spc. Jeffrey F. Nichols, 21, of Granite Shoals, Texas, was a field artilleryman assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, according to a news release by Samantha Evans, public information officer with JRTC & Fort Polk.

Nichols enlisted in the Army in September 2005 and completed basic and advanced individual training at Fort Sill, Okla. He was assigned to Fort Polk in December 2005.

His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

Nichols is survived by his wife and son, of Marble Falls, Texas, and his mother, of Granite Shoals.

Homosexual Activists Don’t Celebrate Memorial Day on Their Blogs…How Sad

The time is now 9:07 Pacific time and I just received this email from Joe Brummer. Assuming what he wrote is truth, and in most cases what he writes is anything but truth, but assuming in this case it is true, then our homosexual buddy actually has one ounce of compassion for our troops. Here’s the email he wrote. OH, and note his attempt at keeping his “service” a secret and something that only I should know about. He wrote this to me knowing full well I have the decency, unlike his ilk, to correct the record. Note his spelling errors remain as he wrote them.

Stacy,

I just read you post saying I don’t care about vets. I wanted you to know that I have been away and my only access to the web is my Dash when it has wi-fi. I can get my email, but I can’t post to my site when I am in PA. Spelling errors are obvious and I didn’t correct them.

With that said, I thought you should know (between me and you, so I can trust you will not share this) that I serve on a committee of about 10 people who are working to train community mental health clinicians on how to deal with returning vets and their families. I have invested countless hours on workshops, reading, meetings, webcasts and other activities to help me understand and contribute to soldiers and their families, the community, the police and hospitals in dealing with returning vets.

I just wanted you to know that. You don’t need to do anything. I have no request of you. I just wanted you to know.

Smiles,
Joe

At the time of this writing approximately 1 PM Pacific time….

Memorial Day is one of the most important days of the year, and yet, to my utter shock and dismay some of the militant homosexuals who bash me and other Christian activists relentlessly, actually wrote about it or even briefly mentioned it on their blogs. I bring this up because I have been a target on other holidays, and usually I’m wrongfully accused of not caring about such holidays.

However, when it comes to laying aside bias and celebrating the sacrifice and honor and commitment of our veterans and those who are currently serving, the militant homosexual activists remain silent. The following snippets are taken from some the sites I normally follow. (I chose not to highlight all the content on every site, due to space) Note the content of each and I think it will explain to you why these people don’t care about our troops or vets - it’s all about celebrating their sin and deviant behavior. And for the sake of this post, I will be posting about Kevin and Joe - because their hypocrisy is palpable.

Picture 39

Note Joe’s obsession with trying to vilify me and Peter LaBarbera, when of course this story has nothing to do with either of us.

Next we have the first paragraph from Dr. Kevin Kaatz, who really has issues - and he knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Picture 40

Kevin is dreaming that the moral majority will lose our bid for a pro-man and woman marriage amendment will fail in November. It won’t, because we have a moral majority in this state and the immoral minority which includes Kevin and his ilk, really hate that.

Next we have Nelson Garcia, who is griping about some of his former buddies who happen to be just as immoral as him - again no mention of Memorial Day.

Jim Burroway from the Box Turtle Bulletin has absolutely NO mention of Memorial Day today. In fact, Jim is busy bashing people who have left the homosexual lifestyle. It must hurt Jim to be reminded so regularly that change is possible and he isn’t interested.

ExGayWatch is highlighting a video about “Why Gay Marriage Is Wrong” - which is basically a mockery of people who believe that homosexual so called marriage is wrong.

So, dear reader, do you see a thread in all of these posts? I do - and it’s all about celebrating deviance and rejecting normalcy. These people can’t even lay aside one day to honor the men and women who fought so bravely for their freedom to smear God fearing people. Sad isn’t it?

Make Memorial Day Memorable

Guest Column for Memorial Day

by Sharon Hughes

Every time Memorial Day and Veterans Day comes around my mind goes to the many times I’ve attended parades and special observances put on by the cities in our area and the various veterans organizations. Several of those times my husband, Duane, participated in parades and events as a candidate for U.S. Congress. As a decorated Vietnam Vet he always received a warm welcome, well, except for a couple of the very left-coast towns.

When our sons were growing up we would get out the picture albums of Duane’s time in the Army, talk about why we observed these holidays in America, and after dinner, which was usually a bar-be-que, we’d sit down and watch a movie or documentary about one of the wars our Armed Forces have fought in.

Some will think that what we did was indoctrinate our sons in a pro-war mindset. But, actually we were educating them in the realities of war. We wanted to instill in them an appreciation for those who laid their lives on the line to protect the rest of us, and the freedoms we enjoy. We also wanted to make sure they had no romantic ideas about war, as young boys can have. If the time ever came for them to go to war it would be with their eyes wide open and the cost counted.

There is no glamour in war. War is hell on earth. But, even the Bible states that there is a time for peace and a time for war. This is, unfortunately, part of life on planet earth. While we debate, and work and pray for peace, wars still rage.

While I understand the reasons some choose a passivist position, passivity never brings peace. It only allows the rule of aggressive, totalitarian governments and leaders.

So, until the earth’s weapons are turned into plowshares, let us honor the brave men and women who have served and died on behalf of our country, on behalf of freedom.

I mean, really honor them, not just in sentiment, but with action.

Let’s also take the time to not only educate our children and grandchildren about the realities of war and peace, but foster a genuine appreciation for freedom, and for those who fight to preserve it.

Here are a few ideas you may want to use to make this Memorial Day a memorable one:

~Visit memorials.
~Fly the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon.
~Fly the ‘POW/MIA Flag.
~Participate in a “National Moment of Remembrance” at 3 p.m. to pause and think upon the true meaning of the day and the sacrifices paid.
~Renew a pledge to aid the widows, widowers, and orphans of our fallen soldiers.
~Visit veterans in the hospital.
~Donate to aid disabled veterans.

Also, tune in to our show on Memorial Day with Silver Start recipient, Captain John Loving, retired as he shares from his experience in Viet Nam, and his latest book, “A Soldier’s Faith; Spiritual Lessons from the Battlefield”.

This Memorial Day make sure you remember, and encourage others to remember, why we have this day off. It’s not just about a picnic.
