Thank you for your clarifications. Let me just say this though, I don’t think what you wrote was a verbal bomb, I just used that term to describe how it felt to me when I read the article and based on previous media coverage on Huck. And like I said, considering how liberal you are, you did a pretty good job being objective. I appreciate that.

–According to my notes, you said “if there was one thing I could change about this campaign, it would be that [the country music].” I agree it was jocularly put, but the point was made earnestly. It’s true you didn’t, verbatim, refer to them as “themes”, though I didn’t put that in quotations.

–I don’t write the headlines, but I do know that our editor (who does write the headlines) was not intending to suggest that only Huckabee visits Newport Beach for fund-raisers — that would be kind of ridiculous, I agree. He meant it was an “ATM” for all candidates; it’s a joke he’s made in other headlines as well.

–I don’t think that “criticism” necessarily denotes vitriolic denunciations. I would say your post above is critical of what I wrote in the Pilot, though hardly a verbal bomb.
