10 Different Things I’m Thankful For

Randy Thomas has challenged his readers to write about things we are thankful for besides the typical family, friends and God thing. This shall be interesting, so here goes.

I’m very thankful for internet radio and podcasting capability. The reason why is because I tend to get most of my news from the internet and radio and seriously, the BEST people are those who I can’t seem to get in my area.

David Barton is one of my all time favorite radio hosts and historians and his website is filled with a ton of wonderful and historical information. Check out Wallbuilders.com

I am very thankful for my brothers and sisters in Christ who live in persecuted countries and who daily live out their faith for the cause of Christ even knowing they could be tortured or killed for their faith. Their faith inspires me.

I am thankful for all four of my animals. I love my pets and anyone who has ever had a pet can understand why loving a pet is such a great thing. My two German shepherds and two cats are some of the biggest blessings of my life.

Books…I am thankful for all the books I get free because of the work I do here on this blog. Without this particular blessing I may have never come across some of the newest authors I have come to love. Recently I even learned about Shakespeare and without the work of ACM and free books, I wouldn’t have had this new knowledge about a historical great. Books rock.

One of the other things I’m totally thankful for is indoor plumbing. If you’ve ever had to take a cold shower because your water heater went out on you, or ever had to then you appreciate the heated water and all the other amenities of life that make being an American comfortable. Living indoors is a great thing.

I’m also very thankful for my vehicle. I love my car because not only is it totally cool looking, but it’s fun to drive.

I’m thankful for whoever created peanut M & M’s. I probably should hate them because I love that candy so much, but I don’t. Whoever thought to mix peanuts and chocolate was brilliant.

Pens - who is NOT thankful for modern day writing utensils. Seriously, pens are awesome. I love stationary stores and I love particularly to go to the pen section. The gel pens are the best - they write smooth, and they come in nice colors…not just boring blue and black.

Ice…I’m extremely thankful for ICE. Anyone who knows me, knows I carry a cup of ice with me wherever I go. My clients know I always have ice when I counsel them, and my friends at church totally comment when I don’t bring ice to church. Yes, that has happened a few times, and much to my surprise, people actually notice when I don’t have my cup of ice. Ice is cool….literally and ice is awesome. I love ice.

And last but certainly not the least thing I am thankful for is my digital camera. I have a nice camera and I also have a camera in my cell phone. Life would be very boring without a digital camera…and I know that to be true because before the digital camera came into existence, life was boring.

And of course, I am thankful for my family, friends and online readers, as well as God, my faith, salvation and great health.

Shakespeare for Everyone to Enjoy

Shakespeare_2Recently I had the opportunity to interview a scholar on the subject of Shakespeare and his Christian faith.

David R. Brown lectures
on Shakespeare at the annual Ashland, Oregon Shakespeare Festivals and
is available for speaking and teaching adults and student classes on
Shakespeare.

And I can tell you that the conversation I had with David was very fascinating.  If you have ever wanted to learn about Shakespeare, then I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

About This Item

Dawn knows from personal experience that the environment in which a
child is raised matters. Her story delivers a provocative, gripping,
no-holds-barred account of what it was like to grow up with a
homosexual father, his partners, and a chronically ill and passive
mother. Candidly, transparently, yet respectfully, Dawn raises the
blinds on a home shrouded in secrecy, conflict, confusion, and abuse.

"Out From Under should be read by every legislator, lawyer,
physician and mental health professional in a position to lobby for the
best interests of children. May society heed Dawn’s courageous
testimony and spare other innocents the suffering she and her siblings
sustained."

-Michelle A. Cretella, M.D., Board of Directors, American College
of Pediatricians, and Chair, Committee on Sexuality, ACP, United States

"Out From Under is a personal account told in an emotional
narrative. Stefanowicz tells of the enormous burden that was thrust
upon her as a young person, a burden that is too great for any child.
This story compels one to ponder the vulnerability of children, human
suffering, and the meaning of life itself."

-Senator Anne Cools, Ottawa, Canada

"Dawn Stefanowicz has the courage to write a politically incorrect
book. She has the right because she was raised in a homosexual
environment and suffered because of it … there are few books like
this one, which argues that such environments are disturbing to
children."
-Professor John Patrick, M.D., Augustine College, Ottawa, Canada

"Dawn Stefanowicz writes … her personal experience, illustrating
the unnaturalness of her parenting situation, the hypocrisy of those in
her environment who pretended not to see this unnaturalness, and the
loneliness of a child who is imprisoned in that situation … "
-Gerard J.M. van den Aardweg, Ph.D., psychologist specializing in the
treatment of homosexuality, and author of many articles and several
books, the Netherlands
