The Office Writers Talk

Here’s a secret about me that you probably haven’t heard anywhere else, simply because I’ve never shared this with anyone before…not even my husband. I LOVE to watch STRIKES because it fascinates me how people can gather together over a cause and stand up for what they believe in.

Case in point – you have probably heard about the writers strike in Hollywood. Personally, I honestly do not care if these people get paid, or if the actors get paid, or if anyone in Hollywood is paid. It’s not a big issue for me, simply because if Hollywood closed tomorrow and most of the television shows went off air, I wouldn’t care because I rarely if ever watch television. I’m a radio person.

But here’s the big problem apparently, especially concerning the sometimes crude, but often funny show, The Office. The problem is that the episodes are aired on the Internet and the writers want to get paid for that too. Makes sense, but who really cares. If these people can’t live on the ridiculous income they get for pretending to be someone else, then maybe they all need to contact a financial planner.

There are way too many professions out there, including the one I’m in, where you do not get paid what you’re worth, and some of us actually have higher degrees. It’s really pretty sickening.
