Do You Pray Before You Blog?

This past year when I attended the GodBlogCon one of the things that was of benefit to me was whether or not Christians who blog seriously consider what they do to be a ministry. I think a lot of Christians think what they do is ministry, but in reality, it’s probably not. I say that not to condemn or judge anyone, but rather because I’ve been blogging for a number of years now and honestly find little value in what most Christian bloggers write about. And one of the trends in the Christian blogosphere is to get linked, join the “ego-system”, as I like to refer to it – which incidentally is linked to a HARD CORE PORN SITE, which apparently the Christians who are linked to The TruthLaidBear’s site could care less about.

What seems to be important is how much a person’s blog is noticed. And I have to admit, in the past I have been totally guilty of falling into the trap of playing the blog games. But as I stated at the last GodBlogCon, even Christians in the blogosphere care more about their “ego” than they do really using the power of their blog for righteous purposes.

One of the suggestions was that we Christians should pray for other bloggers and also that we should pray before we blog. Do you? Of all of you who frequent the GodBlogCon’s have you?

What causes are you supporting and helping others to learn about using your blog? For example, do you tell others things they need to know to make a difference in the world, or is your blog simply a place for you to discuss things that everyone else in the blogosphere is talking about?

These are just a few thoughts I had this morning. I’ll be back later with more. So be sure to come back.

New Blog Rec: Lighting the Way Worldwide

To my regular readers I want to alert you to a new link I have recently posted in my list of links. This is a wonderful blog called Lighting the Way Worldwide which is a ministry that literally goes out into the marketplace and shares the gospel and also ministers to the homosexual community. I learned of the ministry through my friend Stephen Bennett, and I can tell you that if you want some encouragement and motivation to share Christ, just visit and bookmark their blog. It’s very cool.

I will also be doing a podcast with them in the future so that we can let others know of their work for the Lord. Check out their blog today.

Concerned Women for America & Americans for Truth Support Mayor Naugle

As most of you know, last week I produced some videos in support of Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle because he has come under fiery attack from the homosexual activists for wanting to stop illegal sexual behavior in public places.

Today, my friends at Concerned Women for America, posted an interview with Mayor Naugle that they did on Friday. I want to HIGHLY encourage everyone to go and listen to this man of God and hear what he has to say directly instead of believing what you may be reading about him. CWFA was also gracious enough to link to one of my videos in support of the Mayor, and I want to thank them for that.

Last week, Peter LaBarbera, President of Americans for Truth, also did an interview with Concerned Women for America concerning the attacks that Mayor Naugle has come under. It’s a good interview and I’d like you to go and listen to that one also. Click here to hear Peter.

The Lord Contends

One of my favorite historical people of scripture is King David. I love David because he was truly a man after God’s heart. He was humble enough to repent of his sin when he blew it, and his prayers that we find in Psalms are the cry of hearts – today, thousands of years later. I read Psalm 35 yesterday and I could relate to David’s prayer and feeling attacked by evildoers. And the cool thing is that God will always answer this prayer…

Psa 35:1 Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; Fight against those who fight against me.

Psa 35:2 Take hold of buckler and shield And rise up for my help.
Psa 35:3 Draw also the spear and the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me; Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.”
Psa 35:4 Let those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life; Let those be turned back and humiliated who devise evil against me.
Psa 35:5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, With the angel of the LORD driving {them} on.
Psa 35:6 Let their way be dark and slippery, With the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
Psa 35:7 For without cause they hid their net for me; Without cause they dug a pit for my soul.
Psa 35:8 Let destruction come upon him unawares, And let the net which he hid catch himself; Into that very destruction let him fall.
Psa 35:9 And my soul shall rejoice in the LORD; It shall exult in His salvation.
Psa 35:10 All my bones will say, “LORD, who is like You, Who delivers the afflicted from him who is too strong for him, And the afflicted and the needy from him who robs him?”
Psa 35:11 Malicious witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I do not know.
Psa 35:12 They repay me evil for good, {To} the bereavement of my soul.
Psa 35:13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, And my prayer kept returning to my bosom.
Psa 35:14 I went about as though it were my friend or brother; I bowed down mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.
Psa 35:15 But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered themselves together; The smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me, They slandered me without ceasing.
Psa 35:16 Like godless jesters at a feast, They gnashed at me with their teeth.
Psa 35:17 Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue my soul from their ravages, My only {life} from the lions.
Psa 35:18 I will give You thanks in the great congregation; I will praise You among a mighty throng.
Psa 35:19 Do not let those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me; Nor let those who hate me without cause wink maliciously.
Psa 35:20 For they do not speak peace, But they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
Psa 35:21 They opened their mouth wide against me; They said, “Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it!”
Psa 35:22 You have seen it, O LORD, do not keep silent; O Lord, do not be far from me.
Psa 35:23 Stir up Yourself, and awake to my right And to my cause, my God and my Lord.
Psa 35:24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to Your righteousness, And do not let them rejoice over me.
Psa 35:25 Do not let them say in their heart, “Aha, our desire!” Do not let them say, “We have swallowed him up!”
Psa 35:26 Let those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who rejoice at my distress; Let those be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves over me.
Psa 35:27 Let them shout for joy and rejoice, who favor my vindication; And let them say continually, “The LORD be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.”
Psa 35:28 And my tongue shall declare Your righteousness {And} Your praise all day long.

Gideons Win Religious Freedom Case

If you read this blog with any regularity, then you know my husband and I are very active members of the Gideons International, and that I posted on the unbelievable treatment that two fellow Gideons received in Florida earlier this year. Today I am happy to report that the Lord gave the ADF and Gideons the victory! Read the press release from the ADF and congratulations Attorney David Cortman for doing a stellar job!

PLANTATION KEY, Fla. — A judge dismissed all charges Friday against two members of The Gideons International who were arrested while attempting to distribute Bibles on a public sidewalk outside Key Largo School. Alliance Defense Fund Senior Legal Counsel David Cortman represented the two men.

“Christians cannot be treated as second-class citizens,” said Cortman. “These two men have the same constitutional rights as everyone else to pass out literature on a public sidewalk. We are pleased that the court agrees that these men should not have been arrested and dismissed the charges against them.”

On Jan. 19, police arrested Ernest Simpson and Anthony Mirto and charged them with trespassing after the principal of Key Largo School complained that they were handing out Bibles on the public sidewalk outside the school. Following the initial motion to dismiss filed by ADF attorneys, the state dismissed the charges but then filed new ones under a different statute (www.telladf.org/news/story.aspx?cid=4079). At Friday’s hearing, the court granted the request of ADF attorneys to dismiss the new charges.

A fact sheet on the case, State of Florida v. Simpson, is available at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/SimpsonFactSheet.pdf.
