Forget About Marriage
Michelle Goodman has written a very interesting article concerning why people do not marry over at The Seattle Times website. The name of the article is Who is and isn’t marrying, and why.
It appears that many women are not feeling the need to marry these days because they can make their own money, cohabitate, or have a simple “commitment ceremony”.
The problem appears to be that traditional marriage needs to “evolve” according to Joriel Foltz, a 31-year-old.
And then the article makes this point, “Now that “till death do us part” is a choice rather than survival tactic, we need a truly compelling reason — not to mention a truly worthy partner — to take the leap.”
And then the article ends with these sad statistics.

Numerical relationships One-quarter of American households consist of a married man and woman and their children. 41 percent of American women ages 15 to 44 have lived with an unmarried different-sex partner at some point. 41 percent of unmarried partners (both gay and straight) who live together have children under 18 years old. 33 percent of all births are to unmarried women. 45 percent of people in their twenties say the government should not be involved in licensing marriage. The saddest thing about this story is that once again, in our liberal society, the CHILDREN are denied the security and love of a stable and healthy home environment.
When couples have the attitude that you can get divorced if you want then inevitably divorce will become more of an option.
When single women are having babies out of wedlock most of them provide poorly for their child, and the poor child is usually without a father.
It’s the children that suffer and that is the problem with our society today. Adults do not care about how their actions impact or shape the children that are born to them.
Many adults also have no clue how to be in a relationship or the meaning of self sacrifice and real love. This article shows that society is selfish, and ultimately cares more about self than society.
When you have strong, happy and healthy marriages, you have a better society. When you don’t, children suffer and so does society.
