Forget About Marriage

Michelle Goodman has written a very interesting article concerning why people do not marry over at The Seattle Times website. The name of the article is Who is and isn’t marrying, and why.

It appears that many women are not feeling the need to marry these days because they can make their own money, cohabitate, or have a simple “commitment ceremony”.

The problem appears to be that traditional marriage needs to “evolve” according to Joriel Foltz, a 31-year-old.

And then the article makes this point, “Now that “till death do us part” is a choice rather than survival tactic, we need a truly compelling reason — not to mention a truly worthy partner — to take the leap.”

And then the article ends with these sad statistics.

Numerical relationships

One-quarter of American households consist of a married man and woman and their children.

41 percent of American women ages 15 to 44 have lived with an unmarried different-sex partner at some point.

41 percent of unmarried partners (both gay and straight) who live together have children under 18 years old.

33 percent of all births are to unmarried women.

45 percent of people in their twenties say the government should not be involved in licensing marriage.

The saddest thing about this story is that once again, in our liberal society, the CHILDREN are denied the security and love of a stable and healthy home environment.

When couples have the attitude that you can get divorced if you want then inevitably divorce will become more of an option.

When single women are having babies out of wedlock most of them provide poorly for their child, and the poor child is usually without a father.

It’s the children that suffer and that is the problem with our society today. Adults do not care about how their actions impact or shape the children that are born to them.

Many adults also have no clue how to be in a relationship or the meaning of self sacrifice and real love. This article shows that society is selfish, and ultimately cares more about self than society.

When you have strong, happy and healthy marriages, you have a better society. When you don’t, children suffer and so does society.

Texas Has the Largest Homosexual Church

Here’s an interesting article from Reuters today that you may want to read in its entirety. Here’s one quote I want to highlight for you.

“Gays and the church are no small matter in America. Many of the country’s 60 million evangelicals view homosexuality as a sinful lifestyle choice — a stance that angers gay activists who say their sexual orientation is not a choice.”

And the article goes on to say…

“The Bible could not be more clear — all forms of homosexual behavior are expressly condemned as sin,” said R. Albert Mohler Jr., the president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in a recent statement on the issue.

“Hudson says such attitudes both underscore the importance of her church for gay Texans and explain its size.”

Yet, if you read the article you will note that they do not address the issues of homosexuality, apparently.

And they probably also disregard this scripture as well.

Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.

In other words, there are many people who sincerely think they are going to enter into the kingdom of heaven, but few will find it.

The Daily Show Mocks People Who Want to Leave Homosexuality

One of my friends, Randy Thomas, who works for Exodus International and has a wonderful blog, has posted a clip from The Daily Show that mocks the ex-gay movement. The reason I want you to see it is because this is a perfect example of taking a very serious subject about people who want to overcome same sex attraction, and making fools out of that very idea as well as suggesting that overcoming same sex attraction can’t be done.

The truth is that overcoming same sex attraction and same sex sexual behavior is possible. Exodus International helps thousands of people to do just that.

A Challenge from a Fair Homosexual Activist?

Updated: March 21st 8 a.m. - Last night I said that Joe Brummer is a part of the militant homosexual group Soulforce - this morning Joe is saying on his blog that he isn’t a member of the group, but that he SUPPORTS the group. ****

To all of my friends from church who read this and the others of you who come here to see what happens when you state clearly that homosexuality is a changeable behavior, sin and destructive to one’s body. I want you to meet Joe Brummer a homosexual activist who is also a part of the militant homosexual group Soulforce.

Joe has been attempting to change my mind for over a year now and Joe has also dedicated a whole page on his “Replace the Lies with Truth blog” to me and some of the things I wrote on my former blog. Of course, he never gives the full text and so when you read the selective quotes he gives you, one may think things about me that are simply not true. However, anyone who does know me, knows where I stand. And given the time some day in the future I will definitely clarify what he has conveniently left out.

The reason I bring this up is because yesterday I received the following email from Joe.

An Email from Joe Brummer

Mar 19, 2007 5:58 PM

Subject line: Interview

Stacy,

Hope this email finds you well. Would you consider doing an interview with me for my blog. I have sent this same invitation to Peter La Babera [sic], Alan Chambers and now you. The questions would be in a MS Word format where you can fill in your answers. I will not print anything you do not agree to prior to pubishing [sic]. Granted, I will not go easy on you with my questions, but nonetheless I will not publish anything we do not agree on.

Game?

Joe

I wrote Joe back and told him, “No, thanks” and left it at that. And I would like to invite all of you to visit Joe’s site and do a name search on me and count how many times he vilifies me on his blog. It’s quite a few.

I also have email from Joe where he has threated to send false accusations to the board of the behavioral sciences to say that I’m an unethical marriage and family therapist. I also have email from Joe telling me he never stated that and then him back peddling on that claim.

My point here in exposing Joe’s lies is that the truth is that he is a part of a homosexual movement that will go to any lengths to discredit and silence anyone who disagrees with his agenda.

The email above is a perfect example of him trying to “reach out in a nonviolent way” and yet I want to draw you to this line in his email again so you can interpret that.

Granted, I will not go easy on you with my questions, but . . .

Game?

Joe

So it’s clear evidence that Joe isn’t really interested in “truth” and that he wants to play a game. In fact, I should say that I am honored greatly to be in the company with Alan Chambers and Peter LaBarbera. I’m sure they aren’t going to play Joe’s game either.
