George Washington’s Sacred Fire on President’s Day

This morning I was listening to a conservative Jewish talkshow host on the radio as he discussed presidential trivia. One of the questions he posed concerned the type of teeth George Washington had and as listeners called in all I could think of is Dr. Peter Lillback’s awesome book George Washington’s Sacred Fire because it is by far the best book on George Washington ever written.

Last year I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Lillback and also to interview him about this book and since today is President’s Day I think there is no better day than today to let you know that our interview with Dr. Lillback is still available and also to encourage you to purchase a copy of this wonderful book.

I have written a review of Sacred Fire on Amazon which I want to encourage you to read.
And you can listen to my interview with Dr. Peter Lillback by clicking here.

Happy President’s Day!

Christian History & Biography Magazine

I used to really hate history until I started listening to Janet Parshall’s America and Wallbuilders Live with Rick Green and David Barton.

The reason these three people have encouraged me in my faith and history of my faith is because they make history FUN! I can’t ever remember any classes in school where history was fun, which is exactly why I love talk radio because the information and knowledge that you can get from people who are astute and students of culture and history is amazing.

However, a few weeks ago I was watching Kay Arthur’s television program Precepts for Life and she was talking about Christian History & Biography Magazine. She made it sound so cool that I got online and did a search for the magazine and then ordered a sample copy. You can do that here.

When I got my first copy I instantly fell in love with it. As much as you can fall in love with a magazine. Not only was the magazine printed on great high gloss paper, but the whole issue was surrounding one topic. And to top it off I even read a two page ad from The Voice of the Martyrs Bibles Unbound program in the magazine…so ya have to figure that if VOM is advertising in the magazine - it must be great.

A few days ago I received my invoice so I could pay for my yearly subscription (19.95 for 4 issues in a year) and in the envelope was an opportunity to receive 44 back issues of the magazine for only 99.95 - I couldn’t pass it up.

So believe it or not, the first thing I did this morning was called the 800 number that was in that ad and purchased all 44 back copies and a 3 year subscription to the magazine. I would’ve asked for a longer subscription but 3 years was the maximum they offered.

Why am I telling you this? Good question - because I want you to get excited about Christian history and the history of your faith. Trust me on this, I do not buy magazines lightly - especially Christian ones. The reason why is most of the Christian magazines that are popular are really filled with little substance or intellectual discussion. Christian History & Biography isn’t one of those - so whenever I find something I really like. I pass it on.

You have to check out their website to see some of their past issues. Click here to learn more and then surf around some. If you’re like me, you’ll probably subscribe. I hope you do.

(P.S. - This is not a paid blog post from the magazine - it’s really my love for it.)

My Very First Passport

I am so excited because today I finally received my passport! I can’t believe it finally came, but it did. I am very excited about using it because aside from Canada I have never been out of the United States of America. But now that I have my passport I can go anywhere in the world, so the first place I’m going is to Israel. (You may have figured that out from the flag :)

A few years ago I told my husband that once I graduated with my Masters Degree that in order to celebrate I wanted to visit the Holy Land. Well, I graduated in 2005 and now two years later I’ll get to go to the place where my Lord and Savior Jesus walked.

I am really excited because I have read the bible for so long and everyone who has ever gone to Israel tells me that the bible will turn from black and white into technicolor. Well, I’m excited about that experience!

Not only do I get to go to Israel with my husband, but I also get to go with two of my favorite bible teachers. Kay Arthur from Precept Ministries is going to be leading a tour on one day, and Janet Parshall from Janet Parshall’s America will be doing another day. Then there are three other women teachers who will be teaching the remainder of the week.

My passport is also very cool looking. On the outside it’s a dark blue color with the words PASSPORT - United States of America and inside it has the following written on the first page.

“The Secretary of State of the United States of America hereby requests all whom it may concern to permit the citizen/national of the United States named therein to pass without delay or hindrance and in case of need to give all lawful aid and protection.”

It also has quotes from the United States Constitution and quotes from our Founding Fathers.

Here’s a quote - “Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair.” - George Washington

“We have a great dream. It started way back in 1776, and God grant that America will be true to her dream.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Pretty cool. Do you have a passport?
