A Prayer for Britney Spears
If you read this blog frequently then you know that I rarely talk about the basic gossip going around in the media. As you may know the media has been obsessed with the death and saga of Anna Nicole and since this past weekend they have also been obsessed with Britney Spears shaving her head.
Initially, I have to admit, my original thought about this whole Britney thing was that I am not interested. After all, truth be known, I can’t even name one song she sings. I haven’t followed her career and what little I have heard about her isn’t very flattering.
But this morning as I was reading through some of the stories about her linked on The Drudge Report, I couldn’t help but want to pray for her and ask you all to pray for her. It appears that most media writers who are obsessing about Britney are almost hoping that she’ll crash and burn and maybe even die!
In fact, it’s amazing to me at what appears to be “feign concern” from the media because it appears that all they want to do is sensationalize her problems. That’s just not cool in my book.
Maybe it’s my mother’s heart or my counselor’s heart, but as I read these articles and learned about her behavior this is a girl who needs some real love and support. In fact, I don’t agree with Rosie O’Donnell on much of anything, but recently she made some comments on The View where she said that she’d like to rescue Britney and have her come and live with her. So at least in this case, Rosie seems to have a little common sense. However, if I were Britney’s mother allowing her to live with Rosie wouldn’t even be an option I’d consider.
I also recall reading a number of years ago that Britney became a Christian. If indeed, that is true, then my question is where are the other Christians she was around? What happened to the church she attended or even the pastor she may have known?
I am concerned about her because she needs some healthy love and support in her life. I think sometimes the media tends to forget that she’s only 25 years old - just a kid really. If what they are reporting is true about her being heartbroken over her divorce and fearing the loss of her children, then there are places that can help Britney. Of course the final question is does Britney really want help?
Join me in praying for Britney Spears. God loves this girl and we who know the Lord know that He can heal her broken heart and set her free from all her pain.

[...] A Prayer for Britney Spears As you may know the media has been obsessed with the death and saga of Anna Nicole and since this past weekend they have also been obsessed with Britney Spears shaving her head. Initially, I have to admit, my original thought about this … [...]
I recall when Britney first became popular in 1999-2001, while I was working a considerable amount of time in the Philippines, where her songs topped the charts much more so than in the USA. She was a very beautiful young girl, transitioning into womanhood. Seeing her current condition brings me to tears…and to my knees to pray for the Lord to bring peace, comfort and healing to her mind and heart.
The media and “paparazzi” are cruel and vicious, like a school of piranhas devouring the poor woman alive! Granted Britney has made many mistakes in her young life, who do these tabloid and outspoken critics and media figures think that they are to be so cruel and judgemental to her?!
It seems to me that all those cruel and critical groups leading the charge against her are truly trying to kill her, quite literally and should be quite ashamed of themselves for being at very least a major factor in the stress that is driving her downward spiral into depression, confusion and apparent addiction to 1 or more substances.
SHAME on the Paparazzi and viciously cruel media! As for poor Britney, May the Lord gently lift her out of her current dark state of existance and bundle her up into His Loving and Protective Arms and fill her heart with warmth, love and the True Joy, which only He can bring to a persons heart and soul!
Amen. Lord, rescue this lost soul and wrap your loving arms around her. May You grant her and her family the very best through Your intercession.
Several years ago God woke me up in the night and said, “Pray for Britney Spears.†I thought, “What? Did I hear that correctly? She has everything going for her! What should I pray for her about? I never thought of Britney at all. I was not following her career.†I will have to admit I was not very faithful to this call. I shot up a quick prayer then and maybe even another when I heard her name mentioned. But, I was not faithful to regular pray for the young star.
I should have learned from past things that God has revealed to me and I guess my self absorbtion or how should I put this… We do not see the big picture that God sees but sometimes we or at least I- process things through my earthly eyes and forget I see only a tiny section of the map. Well, that is neither here nor there. So, I am praying for her now. Daily. Better late than never.
It is easy to be reminded to pray for Britney because you just turn on the morning news and there is some member of the Spears family getting in trouble. This morning she was taken to the hospital and appeared to be smiling in the ambulance. When I saw this clip; I had a new thought. If Britney’s new album has sold more than any of her past albums, the people around her may not be really trying to help her because this type of behavior has spurred on her sales to a new level. What if they do not really care about the destruction of her as a person? And what about those precious boys?
I wish Britney knew that God loves her so much that He spoke to me and possibly others years ahead because it grieves Him for her to go through this! The God of The Universe cares so deeply for her. I am sure she feels people love her because of who she is and how they can benefit from a relationship with her. But, God loves her just because she is His child. I have actually really grown to love her by praying for her everyday. (As I mentioned before I was not following her career or really into her before this calling.) I believe your heart really opens up and embraces a person when you pray for them.
I know through prayer she will move ahead and get through this and I can replace her prayers with prayers for another. I have learned from my mistakes ( I hope) and plan to be more faithful when called to pray for the next person God loves and is concerned about.
I would really love to send Britney, the Princess of Pop, a copy of Princess Bubble. Princess Bubble learns true happiness comes from within and I think Britney needs to be reminded of this. But, I have no idea where to send a book. So, I will just continue to pray and hope others will join me.
