The Nativity Story">The Nativity Story
Last night my husband and I attended a preview showing of the new Christmas movie aptly called The Nativity Story and I can honestly say that I can recommend this movie to all families.
The film is a wonderful depiction of the biblical accuracy of Scripture and also a mix of historical customs. I would have to say that for children under 10 or 11 the film may not be a good choice because they may not understand what is happening in the film. However, if the child has a solid Christian parent who has taught them the story it may work, but it depends on the maturity of the child.
For those 12 and up this is a wonderful film that will become a great family tradition to see every year. I was especially touched with the relationship between Mary and Elizabeth and also Mary and Joseph. This film brings these relationships alive and will give you a greater understanding as you read the stories in Scripture.
I also really enjoyed the wise men in the film and Zacharias who finally saw the salvation of humanity before his eyes.
The capstone in the film, of course, is the birth of Jesus Christ and it was awesome! The filmmakers did a stellar job of bringing the audience to the side of Mary and Joseph as Jesus was being born. Then you see Jesus worshipped by the various characters in the film….it was moving, inspirational and it will draw you closer to the One who came to earth, in human flesh to save us all.
The Nativity Story is a must see movie this year. It opens to the public December 1st. Go see it!
