The War Against Christmas Rages In Schools
and Public Places

The war aginst Christmas is still raging and we have many new reports of “grinches” on the loose. Here are some of the most recent reports from Liberty Counsel supporters all across America.

Clips from the movie “The Nativity Story” has been banned from a Christmas festival in Chicago because it might be offensive.

A high school in Wisconsin told student leaders that religious symbols, decorations or wording relating to Christmas will not be permitted this year.

In Ohio, a public school told teachers not to say “Merry Christmas.”

A public school teacher in North Carolina was told not to display anything in class with the word “Christmas” on it and not to tell students “Merry Christmas.”

A city in New Mexico doesn’t want the name of Jesus used in the Christmas parade.

The New York Parks Department is having a “Holiday Tree” instead of a “Christmas Tree.”

A manufacturer in Virginia told employees to only use “Happy Holiday” as a telephone greeting, not “Merry Christmas”

This is not Christmas under attack right? Yeah….nice huh.

The Nativity Story">The Nativity Story

ThenativitystoryLast night my husband and I attended a preview showing of the new Christmas movie aptly called The Nativity Story and I can honestly say that I can recommend this movie to all families.

The film is a wonderful depiction of the biblical accuracy of Scripture and also a mix of historical customs.  I would have to say that for children under 10 or 11 the film may not be a good choice because they may not understand what is happening in the film.  However, if the child has a solid Christian parent who has taught them the story it may work, but it depends on the maturity of the child.

For those 12 and up this is a wonderful film that will become a great family tradition to see every year.  I was especially touched with the relationship between Mary and Elizabeth and also Mary and Joseph.  This film brings these relationships alive and will give you a greater understanding as you read the stories in Scripture.

I also really enjoyed the wise men in the film and Zacharias who finally saw the salvation of humanity before his eyes.

The capstone in the film, of course, is the birth of Jesus Christ and it was awesome!  The filmmakers did a stellar job of bringing the audience to the side of Mary and Joseph as Jesus was being born.  Then you see Jesus worshipped by the various characters in the film….it was moving, inspirational and it will draw you closer to the One who came to earth, in human flesh to save us all.

The Nativity Story is a must see movie this year.  It opens to the public December 1st.  Go see it!

Places Not to Shop for Christmas">Places Not to Shop for Christmas

by Stacy L. Harp

One of my favorite legal ministries is The Liberty Counsel and they have put together a “naughty or nice” pdf document that cites the places that are for or against saying Merry Christmas.

Here are the places you do not want to shop because they are not mentioning Christmas.

Banana Republic

Bed Bath and Beyond

Barnes and Noble (however I did buy almost $500 worth of gift certificates there and the guy did tell me Merry Christmas even though employees aren’t allowed to say it - and he said it first)

Best Buy

Dick’s Sporting Goods

Eddie Bauer

Gap

Home Depot

K-Mart

Lowes

Mill Fleet Farm

Old Navy

PetSmart

Toys ‘R Us

Pick Your Nose Not Your Gender">Pick Your Nose Not Your Gender

I did not think of the title of this post, lest you think I advocate picking your nose. However, it is catchy isn’t it?

My friend Peter LaBarbera who heads up the great organization Americans for Truth has posted an article that Chuck Colson wrote for his Breakpoint commentary on November 21st. It’s really really good. Click here to read why we should pick our noses and not our genders.
