What sounds like criticism for the New Jersey Supreme Court ruling could be traced back to civil rights for blacks in the 1960's. There were people in our country who beleived that blacks were inferior and did not deserve the same rights as good white Christians. Of course we are now all wiser than we were back then,.. or are we? The reality is that the rights of all people including those of alternative lifestyles must have provisions to protect them, since they may lie in a hospital dying of a terminal disease. The one and only person who can possibly be there isn't able to make those choices since all other family members may abandon them. It is the job of our government to provide protection to the rights of all people and not legislate what goes on in their bedrooms. And just for your information, I am heterosexual.
