Last night was the kick off to the 2nd God Blog Con and I was at my other job working with hurting people and counseling, so I wasn’t able to make it.  But this morning I was able to go and I attended part of the morning session, had lunch with my friends La Shawn and Charmaine and a precious young woman (whom I can’t remember her name - sorry).  And sat in on a session led by Mark D. Roberts on the "new media".

I have mixed feelings about this years event because the attendance is pretty low, but that may be in part because some liberal bloggers who were invited to speak didn’t want to come because they didn’t like the venue being at Biola University.  I guess they never realized that when a conservative is invited to a liberal venue that they are the one outnumbered.  Oh well…if it was me, I’d be there in a heartbeat.

That aside, I haven’t really heard much from the panelists that really makes much sense to me.  I’m not sure if it’s because I’m grounded in my faith and the reasons I blog, or I’m just an outsider when it comes to spiritualizing why I blog.

I left right after Hugh  Hewitt began his broadcast, since I’m not a Hewitt lackey like many of the GodBloggers are. :)  Not that being a lackey is bad and kissing up to Hugh is a bad thing so you can get traffic…but I have better things to do with my time.

Tomorrow I am holding a session on podcasting and then I believe I’m going to be on a panel…this should be interesting since I have no clue what the panel discussion is really about.  But never fear where an opinion is needed…I’m there :)  I’ll report later if I feel like I want to.

The following was sent in a special email from Focus on the Family. Congratulations Dobson Family!

Dear Friends,

It is with unrestrained joy that we announce the birth of our first grandchild who made his debut Monday afternoon (October 16, 2006) about 4:00 pm. Shirley and I were in Nashville for a Stand for the Family Rally when the cell phone rang. Ryan was on the line and let us hear the first lusty cry of a precious little boy named Lincoln (named for Abraham Lincoln), just one minute after his birth. I can assure you that it was very difficult to get my mind on my speech after learning the great news. I spoke for 50 minutes to 3,000 people and then we ran for a private plane provided for us by a generous friend in California. (My speech and the first announcement of Lincoln’s birth will be aired on the Focus on the Family radio broadcast this Thursday and Friday). We arrived at the birthing center in Colorado Springs about midnight and excitedly greeted Ryan and a very sleepy Laura. Lincoln is the most gorgeous kid in the history of the world—of course—and he and Laura are both doing fine. He weighed in at 7 lb 10 ounces, and is 20 Å“ inches long. And, he is undeniably brilliant.

And so, Jim and Shirley, who were beginning to feel like Abraham and Sarah, have now been given their promise child. In fact, when Ryan and Laura first called to tell us we were going to be grandparents, Shirley was out in the tent listening to the conversation and was heard to be laughing. (If you don’t understand this joke, read Genesis 18:9-12.)

Thank you for your prayers for Laura and Lincoln in recent days. It is now our prayer that God will ordain this special little boy for a significant purpose in His Kingdom, and that Laura and Ryan will be granted divine wisdom in raising the child in the fear and admonition of the Lord. I believe that will happen.

READ WHY I LEFT LIBSYN MY PODCAST PROVIDER AND MOVED TO CYBEREARS

As most of you know who come here regularily I am very passionate about protecting children - especially on the Internet.  You may remember back in April of this year I was asked to go on Dayside on Fox News to talk about a pedophile blog site I found on Google.  After I did that people came to me right and left concerning things they have seen online including one such pedophile man-boy love sex podcast.

Well, after I saw that this podcast existed and it was on the same podcast provider I used, Liberated Syndication, I contacted Libsyn numerous times and asked them to do something about it.  Libsyn did nothing.

Then to my shock, the people at Perverted Justice found out about this podcast and began putting pressure on Libsyn to drop the podcast so Libsyn decided to tell the guys behind the podcast to transcribe all of their podcasts so they could determine if the law was being broken.  And while I think that’s a pretty serious punishment in itself, I still felt the need to stop giving Libsyn my money.

After Perverted Justice contacted me numerous times I asked them to give me some names of other podcast providers - they did.  As a result I found one that I like and decided to go with them.

The good news is that not only is the service $10 cheaper a month, but I also get more space and can host two podcasts if my heart desires.  I also spoke to the President, via email and told them about the situation with Libsyn and asked if they would allow that type of podcast and they assured me they will not.

So even though it’s a hassle to change and let everyone know, I did it and I’d like you to have the new information about where my new podcast is.  So without further delay…
