Comedy on a Mission">Comedy on a Mission

Sunday night I had the opportunity to visit a local church where they were having a guest comedian for the evening service. Since I enjoy laughing, I thought I’d attend, and I wasn’t disappointed.

The comic was Lamont Bonman, who appeared as the Rev. Monty B. Sharpton, a distant relative of the Rev. Al Sharpton. Appearing decked out with a wig and flamboyant suit, Monty spent and hour making the audience laugh at material that covered politics, the diet industry, and religious issues.

Bonman also did a number of magic tricks while having guests in the audience use the “Hebrew magic word” “Boom Shakalaka Boom”.

The most impacting part of Bonman’s presentation was near the end when he boldly proclaimed his deliverance from the cult of the Watchtower, The Jehovah’s Witnesses and also drugs, pornography and weed addiction. He pulled no punches concerning sin and the need for repentance and was unapologetic for what Jesus has done in his life.
