Graduation">Graduation
One year ago this month I left graduate school forever. I left behind hours of classes where I watched my classmates disrespect authority, talk during lectures, eat and spill things, giggle in the back of the room, talk back to the professor, and wear ugly shirts that said Abercrombie.
These students obviously had no clue that when they were wearing Abercrombie clothing that they were advertising for pornography, and supporting all the things that supposedly they held dear as Christians.
I also left behind some friends that have influenced my life greatly, and some wonderful professors who challenged me to be all that I could be. When it came to commencement, I walked across the stage and then left – and it was over. Thirteen years of hard work for 30 seconds of glory on the stage.
The only family member who attended was my husband, and I never received congratulations from either parent.
College is a time of reshaping your mind, offering new ideas and perspectives and with any luck – actually learning something from a few good teachers. I can tell you from my personal experience having attended 3 different colleges that there are only a handful of teachers who really teach. Most teachers in colleges are lazy, and frankly do not want to do the work it requires to challenge or mold a student who is generally eager to learn.
The complete problem isn’t with the teachers though, it’s also with many students – especially the brats that have their mommies and daddies pay for their education, who don’t respect the money spent or the time they need to spend in class. I think that is a very sad commentary on the youth of today – and even some adults who go back to school to learn.
Today Michelle Malkin did an outstanding job with her commencement speech to those young liberals and airheads who are graduating this year. Her vent inspired this post. Check it out.
