My friend Wayne Elsey contacted me today about a new website called Soles 4 Souls which was designed to help give shoes to those who have suffered recently from Katrina and other disasters worldwide.
Soles 4 Souls gives shoe companies, retailers, and individuals can donate footwear (both new and used). Soles4Souls is a 501(c)3 recognized by the IRS and donating parties are eligible for tax advantages.
The idea behind gifts of shoes is nothing new to the Soles4Souls team, as they recently did a relief effort for the Asian Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina, netting over 900,000 pairs donated for these two disasters. At that time, they operated as www.katrinashoes.org, with several churches partnering in the collection and distribution of footwear. (For our previous post on Katrina Shoes click here.)
“Soles4Souls will be headed up by Paul Wilson as President and General Manager,” said Wayne Elsey. “Paul worked closely with us for www.katrinashoes.org and did a terrific job. We have secured a distribution center and a staff in Wadley, Alabama that will process, sort and distribute the donated footwear,” added Elsey.
“The opportunity here is endless. We already have product requests to go to Africa, Sudan, Venezuela, Southeast Asia and the Dominican Republic. We continue to service the hard hit Katrina Region which today still has large needs,” said Paul Wilson, President and General Manager. “I am thrilled to steer the ship for Soles4Souls and have seen the huge difference shoes have made in people’s lives,” he added.

Mind & Media founder Stacy Harp announced last last night that the name of her online publicity company is changing its name Active Christian Media.
The name change reflects more than book publicity which is what Mind & Media is mostly known for. The name reflects the passion with which Christian bloggers not only write about great books, but also other areas of interest like politics, theology, media bias and Christian persecution.
A new podcast has been established already with the name change that can be heard daily at Stacy’s podcast page and around the Internet in many podcast directories, including iTunes, Podcasting News and Podnova.
Striving to show artists, authors, publishers and those who care about the culture at large, Active Christian Media seeks to be a forerunner in online publicity as well as conservative Christian values.

WASHINGTON, DC The Federation of Indian American Christian Organizations in the USA (FIOCONA) has joined with thousands of Christians all over India and around the world to protest the growing persecution of religious minorities in Rajasthan.
“Our letter writing campaign is working,” says Executive Director Michael Glenn, “we must continue to write and fax letters of protest this week.”
Because of the campaign, Mr. Glenn said, “The Prime Minister of India has today appointed a four-member commission to investigate the persecution in Kota where our president and top administrative staff have been falsely accused and jailed. This is simply a naked effort to force Emmanuel to shut its doors.”
Also today, the judge in Kota released Mr. Nair after being held 30 days in jail without charges.
Hopegivers is asking Christians in the USA to write to their Senators and Congressmen this week to stop the persecution of Christian humanitarian work in Rajasthan. They are also asking for letters and faxes to the White House, the State Department, the United Nations, and the Indian ambassadors to the US and the UN.
Additionally, Hopegivers has organized a Legal Defense Fund to help free Dr. Thomas and the staff. Hopegivers lawyers are seeking to post bond at bail hearings this week and make legal appeals in Kota District Court, the High Court in the capitol city of Jaipur and in New Delhi.
