Death of a Creationist

World Net Daily is reporting today that creationist Henry Morris has died at 87 years old.

Henry Morris, founder of the Institute for Creation Research, died at age 87 in California.

The following is found on the Institute for Creation Research website.

After a series of minor strokes in recent weeks, Dr. Henry Morris, founder and president of ICR was peacefully ushered into the presence of his Creator, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 25, around 6:30 p.m. He was 87 years old.

Henry Morris was considered the “father of the Modern Creation Movement”, authoring well over sixty books on Biblical Creationism, Scientific Creationism and commentaries on the Bible. His most recent work was the New Defenders Study Bible (released last month) which contained several thousand additional annotations.

Dr. Morris was a brilliant scholar and theologian who was used by God in many marvelous ways to launch and encourage the Modern Creation Movement on a global scale. But for those of us who had the privilege of working with Henry Morris, he was a gentle, humble and faithful servant of God who modeled what it means to finish well as he consistently looked unto Jesus and ran with patience the race that was set before him (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Plans for a memorial service are being arranged for this Thursday (3/2/06) at Shadow Mountain Community Church. Please pray for the Morris family and the entire staff at ICR during this transition.

Could The Da Vinci Code Go Bye Bye?: Dan Brown Being Sued!

In unbelievable news over the weekend we found out that Dan Brown, the author of the best selling book The DaVinci Code, is being sued by two British authors.

According to various reports, Dan Brown is being sued for “intellectual theft”.

The Scotsman.com has this on this most important story…

Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh are suing their own publishers, Random House, claiming the internationally successful novel lifts from their 1982 book, The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, itself a best seller. . . . If the two writers are successful and opt to take injunctions stopping use of their material, it could threaten the British release of the film adaptation of the novel, starring Tom Hanks and Sir Ian McKellen, which is scheduled to open on May 19.

Gosh, wouldn’t that be a bummer if this heretical film couldn’t show! Augh…

Oprah Talks to Female Sex Addicts

Today I noted that Matt Drudge is making a big deal about the show that Oprah aired yesterday concerning sex addiction. And I had planned on mentioning this show but not for the same reasons he’s apparently sensationalizing it.

The sad thing about this show is that it’s taking Oprah, once again, to talk about the issue that most churches in America won’t - sexual addiction. One reason why I think churches fail to address this issue is because her leaders are involved in it themselves. Yes, I’m saying the pastors, elders and many many members of the church congregants.

In fact, I heard a wonderful podcast this morning, hosted by two of my favorite pastors - Mike Foster and Craig Gross, from Dirty Little Secrets radio who actually spoke to a pastor who came clean with his church about his porn addiction. If you like to hear truth, I’d encourage you to check out the show.

Back to Oprah…the thing about Oprah that I have to give her credit for is that she is at least trying to address the issues. One guest she had on yesterday was a woman who confessed not only to her, but the world, that “she hadn’t even confessed it to her Lord and Savior”, and we all know who that is!

So let’s not be naive about the problem of porn, sexual addiction or immorality in the church. It’s time to wake up, and thank people like Oprah for actually having the courage to discuss the issues, even though people like Drudge want to sensationalize it. I didn’t see her show as sensational at all, in fact, I saw her show as very serious, well done and relatively informed….as far as Oprah can be informed and not being a therapist herself. (Although I like to say “she plays one on tv”)

I’ll have video clips of the episode later today.

Twila Paris Sings

The interview runs about 6 minutes because I included part of her song. Enjoy!

Watch TwilaParis Now

Have you heard the voice of an angel lately? If not, you must have missed the appearance of Twila Paris this morning on The 700 Club. Twila opened her guest appearancing singing a new song named Lifted Higher, off of her newest worship CD. Personally, I LOVE this song, and you will too.

She was interviewed by Kristi Watts and they discussed the album, her boy who is now almost 5, and what it is like for Twila to be a mother. If you love the music of Twila, you will be delighted with this interview.
