Many of you are probably unaware that Mind & Media was born on the floor of the National Religious Broadcasters convention about a year ago so this story caught my eye as I have been following the news up to the NRB Convention this year.
In an article published in The Washington Times today readers are informed that Pat Robertson “canceled a speech scheduled for next month at the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Dallas after NRB officials expressed doubts about the effect his appearance might have.”
I have to say that I was surprised when I first read in previous NRB email that Robertson was going to speak, but I’m even more surprised that he has graciously bowed out of his appearance citing “demands on his time.”
Meanwhile in an email delivered on January 19th to NRB insiders it was published that Israeli Ambassador Accepts Robertson Apology.
Israeli Ambassador, Daniel Ayalon, has accepted the apology of the Rev. Pat Robertson for implying that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was struck down by God for giving up the Gaza strip to the Palestinians.
Ayalon said, “Israel respects Rev. Robertson and accepts his apology, which reflects his true friendship and support for the State of Israel.” Robertson wrote his letter to the Sharon family in a letter dated Wednesday and marked for hand delivery to Omri Sharon, the Prime Minister’s son.
Robertson stated, “My concern for the future safety of your nation led me to make remarks which I can now view in retrospect as inappropriate and insensitive in light of a national grief experienced because of your father’s illness,” said the letter.
Sharon suffered a massive stroke on Jan. 4 and still remains in critical, but stable condition, in a Israeli hospital
