Dr. Dobson is Family Man

One of my favorite people in the whole world is Dr. James Dobson and his beautiful wife Shirley. I love the Dobsons for many reasons, but first and foremost because they truly care about the family as God intended it to be.

When I was in my early twenties I had the privilege of working at Focus on the Family here in Pomona California and people would always ask me if I knew Dr. Dobson and how “he really was”. I would answer them that he is what you hear on the radio. He’s genuine, a man of integrity and a man of passion for Christ.

Dr. Dobson has played a huge role in my development as a conservative Christian, and also as a family therapist. He has been a model of masculinity, humility and gentleness. He has shown many around the world the value of how to love one’s wife and raise children. And he has taken hits from those who disagree with him, and not returned fire for fire.

For these reasons and more, I am happy to tell you that there is a new biography out about Dr. Dobson called Family Man. I’ve made it my book of the week and I’d like to urge you to get a copy and read and learn about one of America’s traditional cultural heroes.

You can purchase a copy through this website, or through Focus on the Family to support their wonderful ministry. Please do.

Patricia Cornwell On Tom Cruises Scientology Beliefs

A website called This is London has a story today about author, Patricia Cornwell who disagrees with the stance Tom Cruise has taken on psychotropic medication. The title of the article is Author Blast’s Cruise’s Beliefs and I think that characterization is inaccurate because Cornwell has a right to her beliefs.

You may listen to Patricia discuss her feelings about Tom Cruise here.

Please also take the time to visit Patricia Cornwell’s website. She deserves our support for standing up for those in our culture who need medication to help with biochemical imbalances.

A Camden Christmas Conversion

Did you see last night’s Christmas episode of 7th Heaven?

If you didn’t I think you missed just about one of the best episodes they have ever done. The whole episode was totally Christ centered and even included a conversion to Christianity from one of the characters now living with the Camden’s. I almost fell off the couch when I heard the following dialogue.

“Well, I’m what Rose calls a Christmas-ite…I’ve always enjoyed the holidays as a way of getting instead of giving and watching you and your family, and being invited to be a part of your Christmas, seeing how generous you are, seeing the kind of daughter you’ve raised in Lucy…and never asking for me to do anything, or to believe what she believes or well, you all believe. I don’t want to be a Christmas-ite anymore, cause I’ve been so blessed this Christmas.

So I guess what I’m really trying to say Santa Claus (who is Eric in the suit), (deep breath) I think I’ve decided to convert to Christianity.”

Now isn’t that cool? Wow! Thanks WB Network and Merry Christmas to you!

You can see the episode information here and also other pictures from the episode.
