Crown of Fire: Introduction

I have literally been waiting for months for this new book by Craig and Janet Parshall to appear. One reason why is because out of all the authors I’ve read these two have totally captured my heart and imagination in their writings. In fact, the Parshall’s are the only authors I’ve read every single book they have written. So I know this is going to be a great book.

I thought that instead of writing one basic review I would blog about Crown of Fire as I read. This way you can go along with me on my journey and hopefully join along and buy the book yourself.

“There are words in this land as dangerous as black gunpowder.”

The above quote is the first thing you read on the back cover of this historical novel based in the 1500’s. Do we have your attention?

The back cover says the following:

Ransom Mackenzie’s life is changed forever when he witnesses one of the Scottish Reformers being burnt at the stake. Soon the young man throws in his lot with the Protestant revolutionaries and John Knox, their spiritual leader.

His dreams of heroism end abruptly when the rebellion is crushed. His father is arrested for printing the Scriptures in the common tongue, and Ransom is forced to hide in the Scottish Highlands. There he meets and starts to fall in love with wild, lovely Margaret.

But his time away from the turmoil is not to last. Knox, facing powerful oppostition, summons him to London. Enticed by the glittering surroundings of the Court - and the allure of a young woman of the aristocracy - Ransom finds himself at a crossroads…where a man can burn for his beliefs, and silence is betrayal.”
