Get Ready for Plant Rights

Sometimes news is just too unbelievable to be true, and yet Wesley J. Smith is one of the foremost experts in bioethics and he has penned a very interesting piece that you all need to read. Read the full article here. Here are a few excerpts.

A few years ago the Swiss added to their national constitution a provision requiring “account to be taken of the dignity of creation when handling animals, plants and other organisms.” No one knew exactly what it meant, so they asked the Swiss Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology to figure it out. The resulting report, “The Dignity of Living Beings with Regard to Plants,” is enough to short circuit the brain.

A “clear majority” of the panel adopted what it called a “biocentric” moral view, meaning that “living organisms should be considered morally for their own sake because they are alive.” Thus, the panel determined that we cannot claim “absolute ownership” over plants and, moreover, that “individual plants have an inherent worth.” This means that “we may not use them just as we please, even if the plant community is not in danger, or if our actions do not endanger the species, or if we are not acting arbitrarily.”

Two Editorials On Homosexuality

Today as I was searching the news, I happened to come upon two small responses to the homosexual agenda. I thought maybe you’d be interested in reading their opinions.

The first is from http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/view/letters/5023722.html

The Biblical Errors of Homosexual Bishop Gene Robinson

by Stacy L. Harp

Jeremy over at Good As You
posted this video on his blog today, and after watching it, I thought that I’d let you see it so that you could see what a person who is clearly deceived and who isn’t interested in obeying or hearing God’s word on the subject of homosexuality looks like.

Jeremy is focusing on the death threats that the homosexual bishop has received, and I would be the first to say that him receiving death threats for being homosexual is wrong. I would also point out also that Christians every day are not only being threated with death, but are being killed. You can read about that on the Persecution Blog every day. And these Christians who are being killed are being killed because they truly do follow the God of Scripture, it is very clear to any discerning and bible believing Christian that Gene Robinson doesn’t.

And while Gene may be a good man and do good deeds, he is in clear violation of scripture on many counts.

Here are a few observations from this interview.

1. He misapplies a passage of scripture where he says that it will always be costly to follow in God’s way. Keep in mind that he’s referring to being a practicing homosexual, which is clearly laid out in Scripture as sin. And he’s saying he is being persecuted for being a homosexual.

The bible says in

2 Tim 3:12 Indeed, • all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Practicing homosexuality is not godly behavior.

2. Gene Robinson believes that the traditional understanding of what the bible says about homosexuality is flawed and needs to be reinterpreted. He doesn’t answer the question with Scripture, but rather responds to the questions by citing unknown scholars. He believes the scriptures refer to homosexual relationships as being faithful, monogamous, life long intentioned relationships between people of the same sex.

The problem is that the Bible never says that anywhere. In fact here is what the bible does say about homosexuality and any sex outside of marriage as defined God’s way - a man and a woman.

8 But we know that ??the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully,
9 realizing the fact that ??law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and ?rebellious, for the ??ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and ??profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers
10 ??and ??immoral men ??and ?homosexuals ??and ?kidnappers ??and ??liars ??and ?perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to ?sound teaching,
11 according to ??the glorious gospel of ??the blessed God, with which I have been ?entrusted.
New American Standard Bible : 1995 Update. LaHabra, CA : The Lockman Foundation, 1995, S. 1 Ti 1:8-11

Here is the Greek for the word homosexual in the passage above in 1 Timothy1: 8-11.

Picture 57

The bible also says in I Corinthians 6:9-11

9 Or ??do you not know that the unrighteous will not ??inherit the kingdom of God? ??Do not be deceived; ?neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor ??effeminate, nor homosexuals,
10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will ??inherit the kingdom of God.
11 ?Such were some of you; but you were ??washed, but you were ??sanctified, but you were ?justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
New American Standard Bible : 1995 Update. LaHabra, CA : The Lockman Foundation, 1995, S. 1 Co 6:9-11

The bible says very clearly to not be deceived and then lists many sins, including three that deal with sexual behavior. First, fornicators, then adulterers, effeminant and homosexuals. Let’s look at the Greek for each of these sexual sins.

The red number is the key to understanding what these words mean. Look at the definitions of each of these words.

Picture 59

First the number 4205 which you see over the word immoral. Here’s what the Greek really says it means.

Picture 60

The next word is signified by the number 3432 which is the word for adulterers. Here is what the Greek says this word means.

Picture 61

And in order to give you the full understanding of how the word is used in the bible, here is a copy of what the Theological Dictionary of the New Testament says.

Picture 63

Picture 64

Here’s the last section we’ll look at for now.

Picture 65

First the Greek word 3120 …

Note 3434…

The number 733 indicates again…

So the bible is very clear on the definition of homosexuality, and it isn’t even close to what Bishop Gene Robinson says. And for the sake of time right now I won’t cite the other numerous passages that deal with the subject, but there are many more.

3. The Bishop seriously believes that God has called him to play the particular role of a gay bishop. That’s a lie, because the scriptures clearly condemn homosexuality.

4. He plans on entering into a “civil union” - again, clearly against God’s word.

The man is deceived. Please pray that he finds the real God of Scripture and repents of his sin.
